DPP4EU: Highlights from the Conference

From 16–18 June 2025, the DPP4EU Conference on Digitalisation for Circularity and Digital Product Passports (DPPs)” was successfully co-organised in Brussels by the CIRPASS-2, DigiPass CSA, and THESEUS projects, under the management of the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA)

This clustering event brought together over 55 EU-funded initiatives, along with representatives from the European Commission, the Joint Research Center and HaDEA, to explore the future of DPP implementation, data sharing, and digital infrastructures. Through seven technical sessions, six keynote talks, and a high-level panel on “The DPP in 2050”, the programme covered sector-specific pilots, interoperability frameworks, semantic modelling, Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) principles integration, and translating policy into practice. The event attracted over 900 participants, both in person and online.

The DPP4EU Conference provided a dynamic space for knowledge exchange, strategy alignment, and showcasing the growing momentum around DPPs as key drivers of circular economy, digital innovation, and sustainability. It also fostered meaningful connections and synergies to accelerate the deployment of interoperable DPP systems across Europe.

CIRPASS-2 at DPP4EU Conference

CIRPASS-2 project partners played a central role throughout the DPP4EU Conference, contributing expert insights across multiple sessions. Project coordinator Carolynn Bernier (CEA) moderated key parts of the agenda, underscoring CIRPASS-2’s leadership in shaping the technical and strategic dialogue on DPPs. On Day 2, Emrah Danışman (Beko) presented the project’s approach to cross-pilot interoperability, and shared insights from their own Lighthouse pilot.

The project also presented its proposed reference architecture and work on a core ontology, both designed to support scalable, interoperable DPP systems in line with upcoming regulatory frameworks. CIRPASS-2’s contributions culminated in the final panel “The DPP in 2050”, moderated by Sergio Olivero (LINKS Foundation), where the consortium’s long-term vision was reflected in discussions on DPP governance, infrastructure, and cross-sector alignment. The project’s long-term vision was further reflected in the final panel, “The DPP in 2050,” moderated by Natalia Konchakova (Hereon), which explored governance, infrastructure, and cross-sector alignment.
