Critical raw materials (CRMs) are vital for our economic and clean energy future, yet their global value chains are regulated by a complex and inconsistent web of laws and standards, making their traceability and sustainability across border opaque and fragmented.

Informed by the latest UN/CEFACT White Paper on CRM and Digital Product Passports, this panel will make the case for a new UNECE-UN/CEFACT Recommendation on CRMs, dissecting the critical gaps, legal challenges, and emerging opportunities in establishing International Traceability Law in the CRM value chains and beyond. Bringing together leading experts from law, engineering, and industry, the discussion will chart practical pathways to overcome multinational fragmentation and provide policymakers and businesses with the insights needed to start to develop an international Recommendation.
