CIRPASS-2 project is pleased to invite you to contribute to the upcoming session “Digital Product Passport: The Enabler of the Circular Economy” as part of the ISM 2025: International Conference on Industry of the Future and Smart Manufacturing in Malta, 12–14. November 2025.
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is a key initiative under the European Union’s Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), designed to enhance transparency, traceability, and circularity. This session will explore the potential of DPPs, the challenges companies face, and real-world use cases that demonstrate their benefits.
This invitation is for the original papers that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:
- DPP Compliance and Legal Considerations: Navigating the legal landscape and cross-sectorial legislation within Europe.
- DPP System: Assessing digital solutions such as blockchain and distributed ledgers, data spaces, asset administration shells, and verifiable credentials that facilitate the trustworthiness and effectiveness of DPPs.
- DPP Data: Uncovering the potential content and data models of product-specific DPPs and demonstrating how they can drive a more circular economy.
- DPP Use Cases and User Stories: Industrial Case Studies showcasing how DPPs can extend the lifespan of products, components, and materials while enabling various R-strategies.
- Semantic Interoperability: Investigating the role of knowledge graphs, ontologies, and standards in enabling seamless data exchange and integration.
- DPP Impact: Assessing the qualitative and quantitative benefits of DPP implementation within a specific industrial sector or across multiple sectors.
- Business Processes with DPP: Showcasing how DPPs can reduce administrative burdens for companies (mandatory DPP) and enhance operational efficiency (non-mandatory DPP).
- Circular Business Models: Driving sustainable value creation by leveraging DPPs to enable business models such as renting, leasing, and sharing.
- DPP in Europe and Beyond: Analyzing the differences and relations between various DPP initiatives worldwide.
