CIRPASS-2 kicked of its Expert Working Group 5 on DPPs in all other sectors

EU-funded CIRPASS-2 project initiated its Expert Working Group 5 (EWG5 – Customisation and deployment of Digital Product Passports (DPP) in other sectors than textiles and electronics) through an online kick-off meeting on 16 September 2024. The meeting brought together some 70 experts from all kinds of producing industries and DPP-related service and solution providers (or its 100 approved members). It followed earlier kick-off sessions of the EWG 2 (Standardisation Liaisons) and EWG 3 (Textile Stakeholders).

EWG 5 is one of five CIRPASS-2 Expert Working Groups, which are part of an even wider CIRPASS-2 Stakeholder Community, whose goals are to enable two-way communications between the project and the expert stakeholder community, to follow and provide feedback on the project developments, and to disseminate project results.

These groups will support CIRPASS-2 in reaching its goals of demonstrating a functioning Digital Product Passport for cross-sector and cross-system use in real settings via 13 circular pilot deployments and use cases in textiles, electronics, tyres and construction value chains.

Objective of EWG 5 is to explore the characteristics of other value chains and sectors – beyond textiles and electronics – and the specific needs affecting the specification and implementation of DPP. This will take in the experiences made in the Lighthouse Pilots on construction products and tyres, but even way beyond with priority to those product categories currently identified by Commission as priorities in its working plan: Furniture, mattresses, detergents, paints, lubricants, energy-related products and materials / substance groups such as iron&steel, aluminium, chemicals.

What is CIRPASS-2 Stakeholder Community?

CIRPASS-2 is dedicated to piloting and validating standards-based Digital Product Passports in four value chains, but also to creating a wide-scale community of DPP stakeholders to facilitate the deployment of DPPs in different product sectors, across Europe and beyond.

Building upon the preceding CIRPASS project’s extensive stakeholder community of 4500+ organisations, the CIRPASS-2 stakeholder community is organised into different groups according to their different levels of engagement, including a large group of experts (Expert Working Groups and The Community of Practice) to support its own work and spread DPP expertise and knowledge even further.
