CIRPASS-2 kicked of its Community of Practice for Digital Product Passports

On 18 September 2024, the EU-funded CIRPASS-2 project hosted the online kick-off meeting for its Community of Practice (CoP), gathering 111 participants. Besides CIRPASS-2 Expert Working Groups (EWGs), the CoP represents a group of potential DPP solution vendors that target the creation of services connected with the DPP (DPP-as-a-Service or DaaS). The CoP and the EWGs will support the widespread dissemination of DPP expertise and knowledge, but also provide in-kind expertise to help the project reach its goals of demonstrating functioning and interoperable Digital Product Passports for cross-sector and cross-system use in real settings in textiles, electronics, tyres and construction value chains.

The event followed earlier kick-offs for Expert Working Groups such as EWG 2 (Standardisation Liaisons), EWG 3 (Textile Stakeholders) and EWG 5 (Customisation and deployment of DPPs in other sectors)

The Community of Practice (CoP) group is open to any Product Information Management (PIM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software vendor as well as to traceability solution providers and current and future DPP-as-a-Service platform providers who are closely interested in DPP development.

The reason for constituting this group is firstly to support the development of a diverse and competitive solution providers environment in Europe and second to support the interoperability of the different and future DPP-as-a-Service solutions.

The CoP will be closely involved in the design of the CIRPASS-2 proposal for the DPP system architecture to ensure interoperability across different technologies, facilitate DPP tooling integration, and foster DPP-related innovation.

What is CIRPASS-2 Stakeholder Community?

CIRPASS-2 is dedicated to piloting and validating standards-based Digital Product Passports in four value chains, but also to creating a wide-scale community of DPP stakeholders to facilitate the deployment of DPPs in different product sectors, across Europe and beyond.

Building upon the preceding CIRPASS project’s extensive stakeholder community of 4500+ organisations, the CIRPASS-2 stakeholder community is organised into different groups according to their different levels of engagement, including a large group of experts (Expert Working Groups and Community of Practice) to support its own work and spread DPP expertise and knowledge even further.
